
As a serial entrepreneur, Woodman has spent over 25 years operating successful businesses he founded. In 1997, realizing that the Internet would revolutionize the way entry fee transactions are processed for thousands of event organizers, Woodman founded ActiveUSA.com and grew the company into one of the Internet‘s great success stories. As CEO of ActiveUSA, Woodman raised over $20 million in venture capital and, in 1999, negotiated a 50% merger with San Diego-based Racegate.com to form The Active Network (Active.com). As Senior Vice President Business Development, Woodman led every major acquisition that forms the foundation of The Active Network‘s product offerings. The Active Network has been profitable since 2003 and is projected to generate $108 million in revenue for 2007.
Prior to Active.com, Woodman founded Florida Sports Magazine in 1987 where he was its editor and publisher until selling the magazine in 1999. In the early and mid 1980s, Woodman founded and directed the nationally-televised President‘s Triathlon Dallas, which, at the time, was the largest participation triathlon in the world. Woodman, who holds a bachelor‘s degree from the University of Arizona, has traveled extensively and speaks fluent Spanish and French. His sports résumé includes selection to the U.S. Olympic Festival for water polo, top 100 finisher at Hawaii Ironman and numerous top three overall triathlon finishes.
Mike has extensive, international experience implementing enterprise software solutions on projects exceeding $100M. He‘s a technical expert in Oracle Applications 11i, PeopleSoft Applications, Agile PDM, and Documentum. Mike has comprehensive knowledge of retail, telecommunications, and semiconductor industries and distribution/supply chain management processes. Well versed in open system, relational and client server technologies with substantial exposure to legacy and mainframe environments, Mike has architected and developed custom solutions using multiple technologies. Responsibilities have spanned strategic planning, SOX compliance, E-Business analysis/design, multiple system architecture efforts, methodology and technical assessments, change management and implementation management and support.
Mike is also a graduate of Cornell University, a published author, and has performed extensive research and presented papers on scientific reasoning and problem solving. Mike excels in endurance sports, winning and setting records in running races ranging from 50 to 150 miles and cycling races ranging from 500 to 3000 miles. Mike is also an avid mountaineer having climbed in Europe, North America, and Tibet.
Nick Gerner completed his undergraduate and Master of Engineering degrees at Cornell University with a focus in algorithms, database and web-based systems. Twice published in research conference proceedings, he‘s continued to apply a research and data driven approach to hard data optimization problems. With four years of experience on several web-based production systems managing hundreds of terabytes of data and serving hundreds of users every day, he also applies a user-oriented approach to solving real-world problems that satisfy real-world requirements.
Nick believes that software should be complete and of the highest quality, maximizing the experience for all users and at the same time minimizing cost. He‘s been a long-time supporter of component based systems, allowing customers to select what they want, when the want, and at a price that reflects the quality of the product and service.
